Mending Minyan Membership

Mending Minyan offers a joyous, liberatory Jewish community decoupled from Zionism in New Haven, CT. We hold Shabbat twice a month, host creative Jewish celebrations from Purim to Passover, provide a network of intergenerational chesed (lovingkindness) to our community members, and work in solidarity for liberation in New Haven, Palestine, and beyond.

In the year to come, we plan to hire our first rabbi, May Ye, who will lead holiday services, support and empower our lay leaders, host creative education events, support members through life cycle events and transitional moments, and provide individualized spiritual support to members of our community. 

Our membership model parallels other progressive, values-aligned synagogues and minyans around the country. We only exist through the generous support of our members, but cost is never a barrier to participating in and contributing to Mending Minyan. Given our financial realities, the suggested donation amounts are below.


Membership Model:

• $50/month for individuals ($600/year)
• $75/month for households (2+ adults) ($900/year)

However, we recognize not everyone in the community has the same ability to pay. This table provides an example of what a sliding scale fee structure could look like.

​All are welcome and encouraged to become members of Mending Minyan, no matter how much you can contribute. We recognize that not all our members will be able to pay the sustaining membership amount. If you have access to wealth, we ask that you consider paying the sustaining membership amount. Donations above the suggested amount help support our community members unable to pay the full amount.

Virtual membership: 
We know that many in our Mending Minyan community are not located physically in New Haven, but we welcome members from near and far. 

As a virtual member, you receive: 

• Voice + voting power
• Ability to join the admin crew + working groups
• Access to monthly virtual Shabbat services
• Pastoral care + individualized rabbinic support
• Access to virtual education + solidarity events
• Supporting a badass community aligned with your values.
